Ashley Graham is quickly becoming the fairy godmother for curvy girls.
Fresh from Good Morning America and just four hours of sleep, she was full of energy when we chatted on the phone Monday, telling us about her latest venture that will certainly help her fellow buxom ladies. Might her enthusiasm have something to do with her new swimwear collaboration with swimsuitsforall that launched today? Yas, absolutely.
The model said she wanted to design the collection — which covers girls sizes 10-24 — because she knows how frustrating swimsuit shopping can be. In our convo, she cited a lack of string bikinis for women her size and the lack of support in most one-piece suits.
"When I wear one-pieces, there’s never a bra attached on the inside," she said. "Every single one of my one-pieces has a built-in bra for extra support because if the girls aren’t high and lifted then life sucks."
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover girl's suits are certainly sexy. Her collection includes bikinis in vivid colors, monokinis with alluring cut-outs and mesh, and one-pieces that zip or tie-up allowing you to show off your assets. If you're feeling extra glam, think Kim Kardashian before she almost lost that diamond earring in the ocean, Graham even designed a two-piece draped with 521 Swarovski crystals.
It's Graham's hope that when women slip into one of her designs, they feel self-assured.
"You know you always hear, 'I gotta get swim ready. I gotta get my body together.' I believe that every body is already swim ready. So, just having that confidence right away when you get in is key," she said. "At the end of the day, you're half naked anyways. So, why not just own it?"
It seems swimsuitsforall.com is already offering Graham's suits at a discounted rate ranging from $55.30 to $278.60 (for the Swarovski crystal one we mentioned earlier).
The collection was inspired by Halle Berry's iconic orange two-piece in the James Bond flickDie Another Day.
"I want girls to feel like not only are they the Bond girl, but that they are James Bond," Joe Jonas' latest music video love interest said. "You can be the boss of your life. You can be the boss over your body."
